Axemen and Hurricanes Split in Kentville

The two teams at the top of the leaderboard split their series on Saturday as the Hurricanes travelled to Kentville to face off against the Axemen.


Game 1 Recap, Provided by GameChanger: Both teams were strong on the mound on Saturday, but Holland College Hurricanes defeated Acadia Axemen 3-0.


Ethan Smith started the game for Holland College Hurricanes and recorded 21 outs. Holland College Hurricanes got on the board in the second inning after Josh Flynn singled, scoring one run. Holland College Hurricanes added one run in the third after Dylan Worth singled on the seventh pitch of the at-bat.


Smith started on the hill for Holland College Hurricanes. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking none. Ben Cairns led things off on the hill for Acadia Axemen. The starting pitcher surrendered 10 hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.


Holland College Hurricanes collected 10 hits in the game. Simon Dubois, Worth, and Smith each collected two hits for Holland College Hurricanes. Worth, Sam Worth, and Flynn each drove in one run for Holland College Hurricanes. Holland College Hurricanes didn't commit a single error in the field. Caden Doyle had the most chances in the field with six.


Jacobie Ford led Acadia Axemen with two hits in three at bats.

Acadia Axemen were triumphant over Holland College Hurricanes 5-3 on Saturday at Memorial Park, Kentville NS.


Holland College Hurricanes opened the scoring in the first after Dylan Worth homered to right field, scoring two runs.


Holland College Hurricanes added one run in the second. Josh Flynn grounded out, making the score 3-1.


Acadia Axemen captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the second after Myles Wall singled, Tyler Croteau singled, and Jacobie Ford singled, each scoring one run.


Noah Scrimgeour earned the win for Acadia Axemen. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking five. Alex Hache took the loss for Holland College Hurricanes. The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking three. Patrick Dobbin collected the save.


Croteau, Brady Cox, Wall, Ford, and Jack Barry each collected one hit for Acadia Axemen. Croteau, Wall, Ford, and Barry each drove in one run for Acadia Axemen. Worth drove the middle of the lineup, leading Holland College Hurricanes with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Worth, Sam Worth, Simon Dubois, Thomas MacEachern, and Elliot Proud each collected one hit for Holland College Hurricanes. Holland College Hurricanes ran wild on the base paths, amassing three stolen bases for the game. Acadia Axemen welcome SMU Huskies on Sunday for their next game.
