In their first encounter of the 2024 season, Acadia and SMU each took a game in their Saturday series against each other.

Acadia Axemen stayed in it until the end, but SMU Huskies pulled away late in a 4-3 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the sixth when Brock Townsend singled, scoring one run.
A single by Seth Routledge on the sixth pitch of the at-bat put Acadia Axemen on the board in the top of the second.
Acadia Axemen scored two runs in the top of the sixth on a home run to left field by Jacobie Ford on an 0-2 count.
SMU Huskies jumped into the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Kyle Sampson doubled, scoring two runs, Lucas Taylor doubled, scoring one run, and Townsend singled, scoring one run.
Townsend earned the win for SMU Huskies. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking two. Ben Cairns took the loss for Acadia Axemen. The hurler went five and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs on five hits, striking out five and walking none.
Ford drove the middle of the lineup, leading Acadia Axemen with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Acadia Axemen were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Routledge had the most chances in the field with seven.
Sampson went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Townsend, Justin Blanchard, Sampson, Taylor, and Cameron Brown each collected one hit for SMU Huskies. SMU Huskies didn't commit a single error in the field. Logan Raftus had the most chances in the field with eight.

Game 2 Recap, Provided by GameChanger: Acadia Axemen were triumphant over SMU Huskies 6-1 on Saturday.
Acadia Axemen got on the board in the top of the second inning after Ben Gouthro singled, Austin Wall doubled, and SMU Huskies committed an error, each scoring one run.
Noah Scrimgeour earned the win for Acadia Axemen. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking three. Camilo Riesgo took the loss for SMU Huskies. The righty went five innings, allowing six runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out four and walking two. Jacobie Ford collected the save.
A. Wall, Tyler Croteau, Gouthro, Myles Wall, Ford, and Garrett Culleton each collected one hit for Acadia Axemen. A. Wall, Croteau, M. Wall, and Culleton each drove in one run for Acadia Axemen. Acadia Axemen stole three bases in the game.
Brock Townsend, Kyle Sampson, Cameron Brown, and Zach Jenkins each collected one hit for SMU Huskies. SMU Huskies turned one double play in the game.
