Hurricanes and X-Men Each Take a Game in Sunday Series

The Hurricanes struggle in Game 2 of the Sunday Doubleheader and cannot overcome the bats of the X-Men.

Holland College Hurricanes won big over STFX X-Men 11-4 on Sunday at Credit Union Field, Antigonish NS.


A ground out by Rhyan Storr put Holland College Hurricanes on the board in the top of the first.


STFX X-Men captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first when Carter Dickson singled, scoring one run, and Ty Arsenault doubled, scoring two runs.


Holland College Hurricanes took the lead in the top of the second inning after Alex Hache homered to right field, Brett Hickle tripled, and Simon Dubois singled, each scoring one run.


Luke Sampson doubled, which helped STFX X-Men tie the game at four in the bottom of the second. A single by Josh Flynn gave Holland College Hurricanes the lead, 5-4, in the top of the third.


Cayle Coffin stepped on the bump first for Holland College Hurricanes. The righty gave up seven hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Aiden Myette started the game for STFX X-Men. The southpaw surrendered 12 hits and nine runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking one.


Holland College Hurricanes tallied 15 hits in the game. Jacob Steeves led Holland College Hurricanes with four runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Dubois went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Holland College Hurricanes in hits. Dylan Worth, Hache, and Flynn each collected multiple hits for Holland College Hurricanes. Dubois stole two bases. Holland College Hurricanes stole three bases in the game. Holland College Hurricanes turned one double play in the game. Holland College Hurricanes were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Sam Worth made the most plays with seven.


Arsenault went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Dickson and Ryder Penny each collected two hits for STFX X-Men. Penny stole two bases. STFX X-Men ran wild on the base paths, piling up three stolen bases for the game. STFX X-Men turned one double play in the game.

Nolan Galloway drove in five runs on two hits to lead STFX X-Men past Holland College Hurricanes 15-3 on Sunday at Credit Union Field, Antigonish NS. Galloway doubled in the third inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring one.


STFX X-Men got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Galloway grounded out, Kyle Moore singled, Kienan Richard singled, Ryan MacDonald hit into a fielder's choice, and Holland College Hurricanes committed an error, each scoring one run.


STFX X-Men added three runs in the third. Galloway doubled, making the score 8-0.


STFX X-Men scored seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. MacDonald singled, scoring one run, Blake Cooper tripled, scoring two runs, Jonathan Tremblay doubled, scoring one run, Galloway singled, scoring one run, Carter Dickson tripled, scoring one run, and Moore singled, scoring one run.


Gabe Bramwell earned the win for STFX X-Men. The pitcher gave up four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Trey Smith-Johnston took the loss for Holland College Hurricanes. The hurler went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs on four hits, striking out one and walking three. Mason Atkinson started the game for Holland College Hurricanes. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and five runs (three earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking none.


STFX X-Men collected 15 hits in the game. Ty Arsenault, Tremblay, Galloway, Evan Whyte, Moore, and Dickson each collected two hits for STFX X-Men. STFX X-Men turned one double play in the game.


Dylan Worth, Cayle Coffin, Jack Burke, and Jacob Steeves each collected one hit for Holland College Hurricanes. Alex Hache and Burke each drove in one run for Holland College Hurricanes.
