Hurricanes Storm by Reds in Sunday Showdown

Duncan Picketts and the Hurricanes used the long-ball to their advantage over UNB on Sunday, and regain their spot at the top of the ACBA leaderboard.

Holland College Hurricanes won big over UNB Reds 7-1 on Sunday.


A solo home run to right field by Alex Hache put Holland College Hurricanes on the board in the top of the second.


Holland College Hurricanes scored two runs in the top of the third on a home run to center field by Duncan Picketts.


Ryan Galbraith hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth for the UNB Reds.


Ethan Smith stepped on the bump first for Holland College Hurricanes. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and one run over seven innings, striking out three and walking two. Cooper Fraser stepped on the hill first for UNB Reds. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and three runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking six.


Picketts provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Holland College Hurricanes with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Picketts and Hache each collected two hits for Holland College Hurricanes. Dylan Worth led Holland College Hurricanes with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Holland College Hurricanes stole three bases in the game.


Galbraith led UNB Reds with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 3-for-3 on the day.

Duncan Picketts drove in four runs on two hits to lead Holland College Hurricanes past UNB Reds 11-3 on Sunday. Picketts hit a home run to left field in the second inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the first inning, scoring one.


Holland College Hurricanes got on the board in the top of the first inning after Picketts singled, and Sam Worth hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.


Holland College Hurricanes added four more runs in the top of the second inning on five hits. Ethan Smith singled, scoring one run, Dylan Worth singled, scoring one run, and Picketts homered to left field, scoring two runs.


UNB Reds scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to center field by Nick St Pierre.


Holland College Hurricanes scored five runs on one hit in the top of the seventh inning. Picketts grounded out, scoring one run, Jacob Steeves singled, scoring two runs, Lucas Panza grounded out, scoring one run, and Simon Dubois grounded out, scoring one run.


Alex Hache started on the hill for Holland College Hurricanes. The righty gave up eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking three. Adam Wenzel stepped on the hill first for UNB Reds. The hurler surrendered seven hits and six runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking two.


Holland College Hurricanes amassed nine hits in the game. Picketts, Caden Doyle, and Smith each collected two hits for Holland College Hurricanes. Holland College Hurricanes were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Picketts had the most chances in the field with seven.


St Pierre drove the middle of the lineup, leading UNB Reds with two runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-3 on the day. Cam Weatherbee and St Pierre were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for UNB Reds. UNB Reds turned one double play in the game.


Holland College Hurricanes play at home on Monday against DAL Tigers in their next game.
