SMU Huskies took down STFX X-Men 5-4 on Saturday at Credit Union Field, Antigonish NS.
SMU Huskies got on the board in the top of the first inning after Brad Howatt singled, and Ethan Richards grounded out, each scoring one run.
STFX X-Men captured the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the first after Blake Cooper doubled, and Kyle Moore singled, each scoring two runs.
SMU Huskies tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a single by Adam Woodman, and an error.
SMU Huskies took the lead in the top of the fourth. Lucas Taylor singled, scoring one run, to give SMU Huskies the edge, 5-4.
Taylor stepped on the hill first for SMU Huskies. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and four runs over six innings, striking out three and walking none.
Gabe Bramwell stepped on the bump first for STFX X-Men. The pitcher gave up five hits and four runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking two. Ryan Dewolfe pitched one inning of scoreless ball for SMU Huskies in relief. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out none and walking one.
SMU Huskies tallied 10 hits in the game. Kyle Sampson led SMU Huskies with three hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Howatt, Taylor, and Woodman each drove in one run for SMU Huskies. Dewolfe collected two hits for SMU Huskies in three at bats. SMU Huskies ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. SMU Huskies didn't commit a single error in the field. Howatt had the most chances in the field with six.
STFX X-Men piled up nine hits in the game. Cooper, Ryan MacDonald, and Nolan Galloway each collected two hits for STFX X-Men. Moore went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Galloway stole two bases. STFX X-Men stole four bases in the game. STFX X-Men turned one double play in the game.

STFX X-Men got out to a 4-run lead in the second inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over SMU Huskies on Saturday. SMU Huskies closed the gap by scoring on a steal of home, a solo home run, a double, and a walk.
STFX X-Men got on the board in the first inning after a steal of home scored one run.
STFX X-Men extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Ty Arsenault and Ryder Penny.
Brad Howatt hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fourth for the SMU Huskies.
Kyle Sampson walked, which helped SMU Huskies tie the game at four in the top of the sixth.
Landon Steele earned the win for STFX X-Men. The pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking two. Lochlan Kearns stepped on the hill first for STFX X-Men. The hurler allowed four hits and four runs (three earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out two and walking four. Colton Maclaren began the game for SMU Huskies. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and five runs over six innings, striking out three and walking five.
Penny went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Blake Cooper went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead STFX X-Men in hits.
Justin Blanchard, Howatt, Cameron Brown, and Adam Woodman each collected one hit for SMU Huskies. Howatt, Woodman, and Sampson each drove in one run for SMU Huskies. Ryan Dewolfe stole three bases. SMU Huskies stole four bases in the game. SMU Huskies turned one double play in the game.
